Abstract
Sebastian Lorente (1813-1884) was a Spanish doctor and liberal humanist who emigrated to Peru. He authored several school textbooks in this country and he was an instructional inspector and taught in San Marcos University (Lima) and in high schools. In 1869 he published his Compendium of Psychology. This article analyzes this book. Additionally, the context of that time is briefly described.
